· Electroencephalograph (EEG)-recording of the waves of electrical activity that sweep across the brain’s surface. Electrodes placed on the scalp measure these waves.
· Computed tomography (CT) scan- a series of x-ray photographs taken from different angles and combined by computer into a complete representation of a slice through the body. This is also known as a CAT scan.
· Positive Emission tomography (PET) scan- a visual display of brain activity that follows radioactive forms of glucose as the brain performs different tasks.
· Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)- this technique uses magnetic fields and radio waves to view specific types of soft tissue throughout the brain
· Brain lesion- natural or experimental destruction of brain tissue.
· Clinical research- applying observations of many different cases to certain hypotheses that will lead researchers to certain conclusions.
